Has it really been 20 years since Pete Tong played one of my tracks as his Essential New Tune? He had only been on air a few weeks in the now legendary Friday night spot on Radio 1 when he picked Playing With Knives and I remember it like it was yesterday. And two decades later he's still having an influence on the dance music scene with his cheeky style and now legendary show.

Busy times ahead
Appologies for the lack of posts the past few weeks - I've been hard at work putting together some brand new sets and mixes which I hope to get up on the site as soon as I can so watch this space!
Focus is now firmly on the Miami Winter Music Conference and for those of you lucky enough to go there are plenty of parties to go to. One piece of advice is to search around for the free parties. There are loads and if you fire an email over to the organisers you can usually secure a place free and gratis. A great chance to avoid the big crowds and the silly ticket prices and see the real pioneers before they explode onto the scene.

January is notorious for being a bit dull, so I’ve been digging deep to find some exciting new tunes, and believe me if what I have found is anything to go by we are in for a really special year. And 2010 has got some pretty big shoes to fill with dance music making a well deserved re-appearance in the mainstream charts in 2009 thanks to artists like Calvin Harris (who also scored a number one selling album with Ready For The Weekend), and David Guetta who with Kelly Rowland also grabbed that lucrative number one spot. For those of you who are as old as me it was good to see Guru Josh and the Prodigy making a welcome return to the top 40 following a bit of time out.
2009 was also a big year for those Summer anthems which, while not hitting the mainstream charts still delivered the goods. Tracks like Sebastian Ingrosso’s 'Kidsos', The Love People's 'You Got It In Your Hands', MSTRKRFT's 'Heartbreaker' (Laidback Luke Remix), and my personal favourite the Ingram & Black Russian Festival Edit of La Roux's 'In For The Kill' are amongst the one’s which stuck in my mind.
For me, the season doesn’t kick off until the winter conference in Miami. That’s the time when the big hitters for the year really start to rear their ugly heads… and I for one can’t wait!
So anyway, here’s to a fabulous 2010 and roll on the Summer!
